Watch nerds. We’re an interesting bunch. And we got our love for this hobby somewhere. And there is a good chance that we fell in love with watches through our fathers. I didn’t. I fell into it. So if you're like me, Then you can use this gift guide as a way to tell the people buying you gifts “hey, I love you but you suck at buying gifts. Please get me one of these instead”. Or you want to drag your dad into this money-sucking hobby as if you haven’t wasted his time and money enough already.
I’m gonna break it up into categories.
Gifts for the ultimate watch nerd dad
Gifts for the slightly interested in watches dad
Gifts for the wears an Apple Watch dad
Gifts for the ultimate watch nerd Dad
This is the biggest category and the easiest to write about. But the amount of options poses a challenge. What to get the watch nerd that has or wants everything? Let’s dive in.
A snazzy watch roll
Watch rolls are super popular right now. And offer a great way for the dad that travels. Watch rolls are for watches to hold them safe and secure in a variety of manners. they can come in various materials, fabric, canvas, leather, etc.
A “budget”(read: less expensive) option would be the Barton watch roll.
Retails for $70 and can be bought from Barton or Amazon. Barton at times offers discounts so can be had a touch cheaper.
A premium watch roll:
The new Hercalley watch roll
Not yet released but soon. The leather looks gorgeous and reports are it’s very supple. And attention to detail on the inside makes this a solid bet Dad is sure to love.
No price yet find them on Instagram @Hercalley
Watch bands:
Nothing makes a watch more versatile than a bunch of watch straps. Natos are a solid choice for the watch lover as they are popular, easy to change, and can be inexpensive.
Amazon has bundles you can buy of various sizes and qualities and colors. A true cornucopia of choices. But you get what you pay for. And while they are a cheaper nato they get the job done and can be fun.
If you want a take it to the next level check out barton bands. They offer tons of choices and are of great quality. They offer everything from natos to rubber to leather and more. Standard sizes are 20/22mm either one is prob a safe bet.
Want something truly special, get the Seiko lover in your life an Uncle Seiko bracelet. They are premium bracelets for a variety of watches with a focus on Seiko watches. They vary in prices but can get up and over the $100 mark if you’re going all out. But from what I’ve heard around the watch family these are worth the investment. If anyone wants to get me a fathers day gift, I want one for my turtle. Don’t know what one to get for your watch nerd? All you have to do is ask, we love to talk about our watches. As if you didn’t already know that.
A Watch
Don’t buy a watch. Unless you know exactly what they want or have a very solid grasp of style brand etc that they love.
If you insist on getting the dad in your life a watch, right now one of the best options would be the Tissot PRX. A modern take on a classic model from Tissot. What’s great about this watch is it can be for dress or sport and has a great clean design that is pleasing to the eye. It’s something of a big deal as people loved these when they first came out. But it gives Dad a little watch nerd cred with a Swiss brand's good looks and solid specs. And the price can be from $300-$400 if you shop around.
Gifts for the slightly interested in watches Dad
This is a tough one. Don’t want to overwhelm them and don’t wanna go too basic. But want to get their interest and then drag them kicking and screaming into watch collecting.
A Book
More accurately THE book of watch nerds. This book is on countless gift guides. so no surprise it's mentioned here. "A Man and His Watch", is a great book with full photos of iconic watches and of their equally iconic owners. To be fair this is a great gift for the super watch nerd too. But it’s in this category because it’s hopefully a stepping-off point. To find a little interest either in the history and stories surrounding watches or the design aspects of them.
A Watch
Now, this is a category where it’s a little safer to buy a watch. They’re not deep in the hobby, but have a passing interest and their tastes and preferences aren’t set in stone.
The Casio G-Shock ga2100 is referred to as the Casioak. Was a bit of a hype watch when it came out. Offers analog and digital functionality. Looks great and is lots of fun and comes with g shock durability. They can be had in a variety of candy-coated colors and for $110
The Invicta pro diver. A great average-size watch. Comes on a bracelet. Looks good on a variety of straps. Is an automatic movement that you can see from the back of the watch. It also looks very much like a sought-after Rolex. It can be bought for under $100.

Gifts for the no interest in watches whatsoever/ wears an Apple Watch Dad
We love watches. We wanna share that with everyone. If you really wanna get your dad a watch-related gift and yet again subject him to something he doesn’t want any part of, go for it.
Seiko Mai alarm clock
Get dad the Seiko alarm clock. Perfect for desk or nightstand it’s a desk clock that looks like a Seiko dive watch dial. It’s fun and quirky and not a watch but watch-related and he may not hate it. Comes in various colors for $45 in reality this clock is a great gift for every category here. As a watch nerd, I know I’d love it.
